Political Ad Data & Toplines

In the last two weeks, there were 194 unique political ads that aired 23,800 times and we tracked $21.5M in political spending from 681 advertisers. If you’re keeping track, these numbers increase every week.

The highest spending advertisers of the last two weeks were New Start N.Y.C., Las Vegas Sands, and Future Majority PAC.

New Start N.Y.C. spent $1.9M and had two ads on air in support of Shaun Donovan for NYC Mayor. This ad went up yesterday and touts Donovan’s experience creating affordable housing.

Las Vegas Sands spent $1.2M and has two ads on air. The group is advertising in support of building casinos in Texas. The ads focus on the economic benefit for Texans if casinos are allowed in the state.

Future Majority PAC has ten ads on air thanking Democratic Senators and President Biden for supporting America’s Covid-19 response.

New York, NY was the top market in the last two weeks with $4.0M in spending, closely followed by Washington, D.C. with $3.6M in spending. This spending is driven in part by the NYC Mayoral Race and the Virginia Gubernatorial Primaries. We tracked $2.6M in spending for the Mayoral race in New York and $1.9M for VA Governor.

There are currently six ads on air in the Virginia Gubernatorial race. Five of the Six are by Terry McAuliffe. This ad has aired 444 times since 4/15:

Extra callout: The NRA/ILA has new ads on air in Montana, Maine, and West Virginia targeting Senators in those states over the nomination of David Chipman to lead the ATF. Watch one of these ads here:

Covid-19

Covid-19 isn’t going anywhere. In the last two weeks, 38 ads aired on TV that referenced the Coronavirus. These are the top two ads :
